  • question_answerWhy does the alternative investment industry need a secondary market?
    Many observers have noted that one of the major weakness of alternative asset investing has been the lack of a functioning secondary market. To this point, alternative assets have generally been considered illiquid, or unable to be easily resold. This serves to limit the investor base to only those investors who can take on longer-term investments.

    Yes. We go to great lengths to ensure the security of all of our member information and other data and use Secure Sockets Layer (“SSL”). SSL is the standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browsers remain private. SSL is an industry standard and is used by millions of websites in the protection of their online transactions with their customers. We are also regularly audited by third party security firms to ensure compliance with the most rigorous security standards. For added protection, we never store your personal information on our servers.

    An investor may want to sell their securities for any number of reasons including:
    - an unexpected life event that requires cash

    CFX Markets is an online platform where investors can buy and sell shares of alternative assets with each other. Sellers may list their eligible assets on the platform, where buyers can compete for the best price to purchase these assets.
  • question_answerIs it an auction or an open market?
    CFX Markets is a hybrid of an auction and an open market platform. What does that mean? We allow for many participants to gain access to each transaction, which provides the best pricing for the seller. We also allow for an immediate "buy now" price for faster execution. The duration and price targets for all listings are controlled by the seller, giving you flexibility and the best pricing available.

    CFX Markets is a hybrid of an auction and an open market platform. What does that mean?     Once we have a signed listing agreement from you, we're ready to place your asset for listing right away. A typical listing runs from 3-5 days and is sold during the first listing. From there, through our expedited online platform, we are able to complete the transfer within 1-2 weeks of matching.
  • question_answerWhat happens to the sale proceeds?
    Once your asset has been listed and sold on the platform, your proceeds are held in escrow until the shares have been transferred to the new owner. Once we have received confirmation of the transfer, funds are released to the seller and can be send via electronic ACH or wire for faster delivery.
  • question_answerWhat fees does CFX Markets charge to buyers and seller?
    There is no charge to list your asset on CFX Markets. We charge a 3.5% fee to the seller and a 2.5% fee to the buyer, based off of the matched purchase price.
  • question_answerHow does the online signing process work?

For Buyers
  • question_answerIs everyone eligible to buy assets listed on CFX Markets?
    1. Currently, only accredited investors are eligible to purchase CFX Markets assets. An accredited investor is a term defined by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) under Regulation D, Rule 501. An investor must accomplish at least one of the following in order to qualify as accredited:
      1. Earn an individual income of more than $200,000 per year, or a joint spousal income of more than $300,000 per year, in each of the last two years and expect to reasonably maintain the same level of income. Have a net worth exceeding $1 million, either individually or jointly with his or her spouse.
    2. Be a bank, insurance company, registered investment company, business development company, or small business investment company.
    3. Be a general partner, executive officer, director or a related combination thereof for the issuer of a security being offered.
    4. Be a business in which all the equity owners are accredited investors.
    5. Be an employee benefit plan, a trust, charitable organization, partnership, or company with total assets in excess of $5 million.
  • question_answerHow do I verify that I am an accredited investor?
    Investors can verify their accreditation status by following the steps spelled out in the Investor Dashboard. Simply create an account or sign in and select “Dashboard” on the top right hand corner of your screen. This should bring you to the “My Dashboard” section. Click on “Update your Investment Account,” and scroll down to “2) Accreditation Process.” Click on “Verify Accreditation” and begin the investor verification process from there.
    There are many methods to qualify as an accredited investor, including providing supporting documentation of your assets or income, providing a letter from a licensed professional certifying your status as an accredited investor, or allowing third-party vendors to verify your status as an accredited investor. In some instances, a detailed bio stating your source of wealth, employment history, and income may also suffice.
    For trusts, LLCs and other entities, we are required to collect the relevant legal agreements to ensure you are legally permitted to direct investments.

  • question_answerWhat kinds of assets are available for purchase and resale on CFX Markets?
    A buyer can either match the price of the seller or place a new bid. Once a buyer places a new bid, the seller can decide whether to accept that bid or set a new “ask.” In this way, CFX Markets Markets acts as an open and transparent marketplace for all buyers and sellers.

    Yes, these investments are highly speculative and investors should be able to bear the loss of their entire investment.
  • question_answerWho controls the assets?
    The sponsor controls the assets and is responsible to managing the subject asset or assets.
  • question_answerDoes CFX Markets recommend investments?
    While CFX Markets provides investors with tools, relevant information, market data, sponsor information, property information and third party information, CFX Markets makes no recommendations about any particular investment and each investor must do their own due diligence before making a decision to invest.
  • question_answerHow is a company market value calculated?
    The market value is the multiplication of the amount of the total shares of a company and the price of a single share.
  • question_answerCan I buy and hold securities purchased on CFX Markets in an IRA or Roth IRA?
    Yes, assuming that all other IRA or Roth IRA requirements are met and that your IRA provider allows alternative assets to be held in IRA accounts. Contact your IRA provider for more details.
  • question_answerDoes CFX Markets use a broker dealer?
    Yes. Equity securities are offered through Sageworks Capital Inc., a registered broker/dealer and member FINRA/SIPC.
